Patient Manual Handling Course

Our Patient Manual Handling Course will help to train you in the practice and theory of safe patient manual handling. This Course complies with Part 4 Chapter 2 of the “General Application Regulation Regulations 2007, Manual Handling of Loads”. This regulation states that all staff who engage in manual handling must be given suitable training. Safe patient manual handling practices can lower risks of injury to both you and the patient.

Guardian Safety Trainers:

Guardian Safety is a QQI registered training supplier. Each Guardian Safety trainer is fully qualified as a Patient Manual Handling Instructor and are level 6 qualified under the National Framework of Qualifications.

Each of our Patient Manual Handling trainers are ‘train the trainer’ qualified, with each trainer  having a minimum qualification of a Diploma in Occupational Health and safety.

Prerequisites:

Attenance to the Patient Manual Handling Course requires all participants to have completed an up to date Manual Handling Course Certificate. It is optional to attend the Manual Handling Course. Click here

Who Should Attend This Patient Manual Handling Course:

Anyone whose work includes the movement, or assisting the movement, of patients with decreased mobility or injury. This course is suitable for Healthcare Workers, Carers, First Aiders, as well as those working in Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Respite Centres.

Patient Manual Handling Course Assessment:

Once you have successfully completed this programme, you will be required to take a theory test, as well as participate in a practical assessment of safe patient manual handling. 

Additional Information:

DVD and laptop/projector presentation are used. Notes on safe Patient Manual Handling are provided to you on the day.

 
Patient Handling Course Attendance Certification:
You will recieve a Patient Manual Handling Course Attendance Certificate once you have completed the course on the day.
Special Instructions For This Patient Handling Course:
For your own health and safety, you should wear loose fitting comfortable clothing (trousers) and closed toe shoes.

Any special needs/requirements should be identified at time of booking, for example, learning difficulties of the participant or specific dietary requirements.
